If you ever research the most used hashtag, you will consistently find #love . On instagram alone, my last count found 1,338,369,888 posts - images showing everything from travel scenarios, sweet kids, lovers and tennis shoes. There are pets, flowers and bundt cakes; artwork, poetic musings and just heartbreaking images of tenderness.

I found one image that particularly spoke to me as it brought to mind our current American crisis - the unconscionable policy of separating immigrant children from their parents.

The bonds that connect us to others, the threads that weave the tapestry of our deepest affections, are created in youth. As children, we are deeply dependent on our caretakers. The breaking of that connection has life-long ramifications, experienced in a quiet aloneness, long after, if ever, reunion is found.

I do not understand. This should not be happening.

They are harder to find, but there are stories that inspire. Stories of individuals, reaching out through social media, to raise funds that assist in reuniting families.

You can help by spreading the word about the Texas non-profit, Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services. #raices @raices

For my small part, #raices will be on all my social media posts and anything I sell will lead to a financial contribution to end the cruel policies and care for the babies, young and old. #freeourfamilies #givethemback
