Needlepoint is a warm art, created with wool tapestry threads. It comes to life with soft stitches on a cotton canvas, each an individual piece of the whole. Its history is long; in fact, the ability to create beautiful canvases was an essential part of being a “good wife” for centuries. If you were creative, all the better! If you could sing while you were stitching . . . well, you know where I’m going.

I will digress a little and refer you to a lovely piece by Therese Oneill, published on Mental Floss. Here we finally, thankfully, are given straightforward tips for keeping your man. It is. Absolutely. Hilarious. (There’s no mention of the necessity for needlework skills, but I’m sure it was understood in the 1950’s.)
Back to where we started . . . I love marrying the old with a modern twist. I love taking the traditional and adding an element of surprise. (Think king charles spaniels with purple flower headbands or blue cats with pink toenails.)
Needlepoint art is a bit of a lost art, so having the opportunity to give it new light feels right. It creates a happy place for me, bringing sentiment, animals loved and special occasions to life on canvas.
Join me on my wild and whimsical adventure. I’d love to hear where you find your happy place!

xx Cheryl
